Public message regarding the COVID-19 Virus (Coronavirus) below the flyer.

Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (CCDR) understands the growing concern around COVID-19 and we are closely monitoring the ever-changing landscape. We understand that it is a priority for us to continue our life-saving efforts in helping dachshunds in need, and it is equally as important to keep all of our members, volunteers and supporters safe and healthy. Since we are a nationwide organization, in addition to following the recommendations from the CDC and WHO, we are closely watching state-to-state restrictions as we navigate through these uncertain times.

In alignment with recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and varying state restrictions related to COVID-19, Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue will be adhering to the following policies and procedures, some of which include temporary modifications.

Adoptions

If you are interested in adopting a Dachshund, please complete our online adoption application. If your application is approved, we will contact you regarding a home visit. Currently, we will not be conducting in-person home visits to keep our volunteers and applicants safe. We will either attempt to conduct home visits via Facetime/Skype or we will schedule the home visit at a later time, when normal operations resume.

If you have been approved to adopt, due to varying and ever-changing state restrictions, we will not be arranging any long-distance volunteer transports. If we are able to conduct any local adoptions, our volunteers will comply with their local ordinances regarding COVID-19, and they will work with adopters to identify the safest means to transfer your newest family member into your possession.

Surrenders

Anyone considering surrendering their dachshund(s) should delay in doing so, if possible. If you are unable to wait, please go to the ‘Representatives’ tab on our website and look for the member(s) who may be the closest to you. You can either contact them directly or email info@c2cdr.org to notify CCDR of your need to surrender your dachshund. We will work with you on any solutions that we are currently able to offer, but please be aware that we may have to delay the intake of your dog until transport can be arranged to an available and qualified foster home.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are very important to us and support CCDR in so many ways. We are always looking for members and volunteers to help with fostering, transports (when they resume), and fundraising and public awareness. If you are interested in becoming a CCDR volunteer, please fill out the appropriate form(s) on our website’s ‘Volunteer’ tab. We will continue to process volunteer applications, although we will conduct home visits virtually or in-person at a later date, as mentioned above.

Public Events

CCDR will not be participating in any public events until further notice. Any local ‘Meet and Greets’ and our Spring Doxiefest scheduled for April 26th in Pennsylvania are cancelled. We hope to reschedule all events for a later date. Please continue to check our website and Facebook pages for further event updates.

We are fortunate that all of the dogs in our care are in foster homes and we don’t have a main facility that we need to manage through this crisis. And since CCDR is an all-volunteer organization, all of our members are able to conduct their usual duties from home, and we are still able to process our online applications and accept monetary donations. Rest assured that all of the dogs currently in our care are being well-cared for, and they’re being spoiled even more so in states where stay-at-home orders have been enacted. While we continue our commitment to saving dachshunds in need and finding them loving homes, we are working diligently to be socially responsible, and to protect our members and volunteers, the public, and ultimately the dogs in our care.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at info@c2cdr.org or send us a private message on Facebook.
